Mosambi Juice

Mosambi Juice, which is also referred to as Sweet Lime Juice, is a beverage that is made from the Mosambi (Sweet Lime) fruit. This citrus fruit has a host of health benefits and is best consumed right after being freshly squeezed. The Mosambi Fruit comes from the citrus family and with it being a part of the citrus family it is a rich source of vitamin c, as is the case with most citrus fruits.

Often referred to as sweet lime, or sweet lime juice, it can be used as a dietary vitamin and the drink can even be used to treat the common cold.

The actual fruit itself can be rather difficult to eat because of the seeds and the thick rind, however this fruit juice is absolutely yummy and has amazing health benefits. And you don’t have to visit India to enjoy them. That’s right. With our help you can make your own juice right in your own home!

Mosambi Juice Benefits:

There are so many benefits of Mosambi Juice that all of it’s health benefits just could not on this page. It’s pharmacological properties make it a potent foe against common colds. However it’s taste will send your salivary glands a flight.

Strengthens Hair- According to Nutritionist Dr. Anju Sood, Mosambi juice can strengthen the hair! Dr. Sood was quoted as saying, “Mosambi juice promotes healthy hair, prevents split ends and gives you that shine you’ve always wanted.”

Great for Skin- If the juice is great for hair, you can almost guarantee that it’s great for skin as well. I often tell this to my clients. Hair, skin, and nails are made of the same “stuff” so to speak. Your hair and nails are really just an extension of your skin. The skin, hair and nails are all just keratin cells. Therefore, if something is good for one, rest assured it will almost always be good for the other two, meaning, this refreshing drink of sweet lime pieces is filled with many benefits that can improve your overall skin health. “The constitution of vitamins and minerals in mosambi juice makes it a great food for gorgeous healthy skin.” says Dietician Anshul Jaibharat. Dermatologist Dr Rahul Nagar was quoted as saying “It is rich in antioxidant Vitamin C, a vital component for healthy glowing skin.” That’s not all, it can also impact skin color, lightening your overall complexion. This juice is a hidden gem.

The “eyes” have it- Mosambi juice is also good for the eyes. According to Dr Rahul Nagar, because of its anti-bacterial properties Mosambi Juice can actually help in protecting your eyes from infections, as well as from the development of cataract. I can…SEE that! (See what I just did there?)

Detoxifies- “Mosambi juice acts as a perfect detoxifying agent by flushing out toxins and neutralizing the harmful effects of stress and pollution,” says Dr. Anju Sood. It improves digestion, and its disinfectant properties rejuvenate bowel tracts. Because of this it relieves constipation and benefits the overall digestive process.

Digestion- Citrus limetta, commonly called mosabi or bitter orange because while it is sweet it sometimes turns bitter. With it’s antibacterial properties the juice has been used to treat muscle cramps, peptic ulcers and stomach upsets. I have used this incredible juice during my fasting times to curb hunger pangs. Upon regular consumption the juice treats constipation while also boosting the immune system.

Blood pressure and bone health- Yes! It’s true! Intake reduces and helps blood pressure along with bone health.

Treats Scurvy- The Mosambi drink or juice has even been said to aid in curing scurvy and the juice has also been used to help bleeding gums.

Now because Mosambi Juice has antioxidant and antibacterial properties, along with detoxifying abilities, we here at Decadent Dulcet Beauty decided to create a juice recipe that would also help with weight loss. Our Sweet Lime Juice Recipe:

What You’ll Need:

SPECIAL NOTE: The links on this page are safe and will lead you directly to the sites where I buy my supplements to make my Juice Recipe! So often people ask me where to buy this or where to buy that. I understand how that can be! Also, you do not need to get ALL the supplements to make the Juice. Tailor, it based on your needs or desires. Some people might want a juice that aids in weight loss. Others might want a juice for overall health and nutrition. It’s up to you and your goals.

  1. Blender or Electric Juicer (I use a blender but either will work. You can even use a juice feeder). This recipe makes about two glasses.
  2. Two Mosambi fruit/ Sweet limes (Can’t have the juice drink without the sweet limes you knuckle heads!)
  3. Sweetener (Add Sugar or honey will work fine. I use raw honey for my juice)
  4. Black Salt (This is entirely optional. It’s just tradition to make the juice with black salt but you don’t NEED it to make a great juice)
  5. Our Secret ingredient (Ikaria Juice, All Day Slimming Tea, Tea Burn, Organifi. I alternate between them. It depends on how I am feeling or what I want. If I am focusing on weight loss, I use Ikaria Juice or Tea Burn. If I want to focus on nutrients, I use Organifi.)

Directions:

Before prep time: If using raw honey place 1 tablespoon into a container and gently heat it so that it melts. Raw Honey is solid and like wax, but a few seconds in a microwave is all you need. Literally a few seconds, you don’t want to overheat it and ruin its benefits.

Also, some of the versions of these teas may have leaves. Now is the time to brew/ make them as you normally would (The directions on the back) strain out the leaves and set it aside to add at step 4. However, if they are in “powder” form…just add the powder at step 4 since it will dissolve in the juice anyway.

Step 1. Use a knife to carefully peel the thick rind of your 2 mosambi fruits. Once peeled you’ll notice that the sweet limes look the way oranges do. Carefully remove as much of the white skin as you can and separate the slices so that you can remove all the seeds. Now some people actually just toss it into the blender without seed removal, but the seeds can dull the blade of your blender, so I remove them first but either way is fine.

Step 2. Place your Mosambi slices into the blender and blend for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the fruit is pulverized into liquid.

Step 3. Add your sweetener or sugar (If you’re using black salt in your recipe now would be the time to add that optional ingredient as well). Add 1 scoop of which ever powder supplement you are using for this and blend well till everything is dissolved. Note: Follow the supplement directions. If it says 1 scoop or 2, you’re going to just scoop it out and add it to the blender. The directions can vary depending on the size you’ve got. The one I use I just use a scoop. The only thing you’re doing here, is instead of mixing it with water, or a smoothie you’re just adding it to the Mosambi juice in the blender.

Step 4. Some people enjoy drinking the juice with the pulp. However, if you don’t like chunky things going down your throat (stop it with your filthy minds) use a strainer over your glass or container when pouring from the blender to catch all the fall out.

The juice will be foamy and frothy at the top. You can place a slice of lime on the glass with a mint leaf on top for garnishment…you know…cause you’re all fancy! But the juice is ready. Drink and enjoy!

Now it’s important to note that the juice does oxidize fast, so it is best to consume immediately after making. I mean fresh out the blender or electric juicer! Mosambi Juice is not one of those juices you would make and store. Or make a large batch of it and store it. Don’t do that. This isn’t orange juice! It’s at its best when consumed immediately after you’ve made it. Freshly squeezed Mosambi Juice! That is how you’re gonna load your body up with the highly coveted Mosambi Juice benefits. The taste is great. Not to mention it is vitamin rich. I love this juice recipe…it’s simply divine! And has been one of my health drink secrets for years!
