The Fanola No Yellow shampoo is not one that I use personally on myself (I’m not a blonde) however it is one that I reach for to use on my clients! I’m going to explain to you what the Fonola No Yellow Purple Shampoo is, and the women (Or even men, I’m all inclusive) who need it and can most benefit from this product! So, if you’ve been struggling with unwanted brassy, yellow undertones, just sit back and relax because we’ve got you covered.

Fanola No Yellow Shampoo

To understand fully what the Fanola No Yellow shampoo is and what it does, you have to first understand color basics and the rules of color. This is something that as a Beauty Professional we have to learn, because certain colors can cancel out or enhance…certain colors! So, let’s have a look at a color wheel!

Now on the color wheel, find the color yellow. If you move your finger across from the color yellow, you will find purple and blue. This means that yellow can be canceled out with purple and blue.

It sounds simple but it can be more complicated. Because every hair color has undertones. The color you see with the naked eye is the last color, but underneath it lies more color which we call “tones” or “under tones.’ Sometimes when women go blonde, the overall color can be “too gold” or “too yellow.’

A woman who feels the color is “too brassy” is basically saying, “its too yellow…too warm.” This indicates that the client wants more of a “cooler toned blonde” shade. Something that is not gold, brassy, or yellow. She wants more of an “icy blonde” hue. Now there is certainly nothing wrong with going grey, grey streaks, yellow hues or warm streaked hair. In fact yellow is used to give a warmer appearance. However, they aren’t always flattering on those with cool undertones. This is where purple shampoos come into play.

Another hair type we see this in is gray hair! Gray hair can have a “brassy” or “Yellow” hue to it. This isn’t unflattering and there is nothing wrong with it, but some people do not like the hints of yellow, and this is where a shampoo like the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo comes in handy! You can’t just take a purple or blue marker and coat your hair in it. You need something, like a shampoo, rinse, or wash, to lightly coat the strands and neutralize the yellow. It’s an easy way to help time pass with a little more grace. And make aging a bit more tolerable. Because aging is beautiful, and I believe gray hair can look stunning!

No Yellow Shampoo Helps:

As a Cosmetologist I love the Fanola Company as a whole. As I explained it to one of my clients, the Company is geared more towards color treated hair. A vast majority of the products Fanola formulates is for color treated hair. They even have an orange shampoo with the same concept, but it is used to neutralize cool undertones. That particular Shampoo helps you keep the blue out. For those little old ladies who have blue hair. Therefore, there is something for every hair color under the rainbow.

When working with my clients who have color treated hair, Fanola is one of my go to products (I have 5).

Violet Pigment:

What is it?: Ideal for grey, super lightened, bleached or de-colored hair. It’s made with a violet pigment that turns down the grey or lightened hairs to be less noticeable.

How to use it: Apply on damp or dry hair, the same as you would any shampoo, by massaging into the lengths for 1-3 minutes and rinse off; however, it is possible for you to see major results or strong effects, by leaving it on for 5-10 minutes. You might want to use gloves to keep from staining your hands. This shampoo is potent! But it works!

What it does: No Yellow is used for bleached, blonde, streaked, and grey hair. Eliminates brass and gives a signature silver, ash tone on blonde hair. This purple shampoo has incredible violet pigment that turns down the grey or keep your color consistent and vibrant by removing unwanted yellow hues.

It can be used to pre-tone bleached hair or on super lightened hair. And it has a pH of 5.0 – 5.2

For home maintenance: Can be used on light blonde or grey hair to reduce yellow tones, especially if your hair has the dreaded yellow mask.

Why choose this over the others: The No Yellow shampoo contains a specially formulated intense violet pigment that tones the hair to give it that ice, ash look. The amount of pigment in this product and the power of the pigment from what I have seen in my opinion as a Cosmetologist, is a bit stronger than most! So, if you are a BRASSY BLONDE…or have that Golden Grey look, try the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo!
